Good Faith Estimate

What is it?

Per law, health professionals are required to give patients without insurance estimated costs for medical services, including psychotherapy.

How does it apply to me?

You have the right to:

  • receive a “Good Faith Estimate” detailing the potential costs for any medical and mental health care services, including non-emergency and psychotherapy.

  • ask any health (or other) care provider for a “Good Faith Estimate” before you schedule a service.

  • dispute a bill that is more than $400 than the “Good Faith Estimate” as long as you have a copy or picture available.
